Unconventional electronic functional materials and devices

Widely used semiconductors such as Si face limitations for future devices such as high-efficiency power generation and high-performance computing. In the Kamiya laboratory, we focus on discovering material systems beyond conventional electronics and realizing new optical, electronic, and energy devices. For example, IGZO, which we developed, replaces conventional silicon-based materials and has enabled high-performance displays. Building on this through materials design we aim to deliver practical materials that make a difference and contribute to carbon neutrality and Society 5.0.

Photovoltaics and optical conversion; in thermoelectrics, we emphasize first-principles evaluation of phonon transport and κ_lat. Candidate screening with structural databases and MI, combined with VASP, BoltzTraP2, and related exploration.

Computational science, MI, AI, and materials design
First-principles calculations and molecular dynamics, materials informatics, machine learning and generative AI, device simulation and inverse analysis, and data-informed design with researchers’ insight.
